Flat Rock Ridge Trail

Details
Description and Difficulty: Join ASTA for a great hike along Flat Rock Ridge Trail in Doughton Park! This will be an out and back hike, either 5 or 10 miles depending on how far you might want to go. We will begin at Longbottom Road and continue along the trail for approximately 2.5 miles to an overlook. This is a good turn-around place for those wishing to have a shorter hike. We will continue up the trail to the top to Basin Cove Overlook. This will be 10 miles total. This trail is considered moderately strenuous to challenging since it is mainly uphill the whole way to the top at Basin Cove Overlook and hence, it is mainly downhill coming back. Pace will be around 2 to 2-1/2 mph but will be adjusted for breaks, photos and pace of the group. Expect 2-2 1/2
hours for the 5 mile hike, and 5-6 hours for the 10 mile hike. Elevation change is about 2400 feet. For those who wish an even shorter hike, you can turn around at any time, just let us know your Intentions.
