Description and Difficulty:
Join ASTA for a beautiful 12-mile hike along Basin and Cove Creeks on Grassy Gap Fire Road/Trail up to the Bluff Mountain Trail, then returning via Flat Rock Ridge We will begin at Longbottom Road and continue along the trail for approximately 3 miles to a creek crossing. This is a good place to turn around for the folks who prefer a shorter and easier hike. There are a few creek crossings, but nothing you should get your feet wet on. In the winter, there are homestead fireplaces that can be seen along Grassy Gap. This wide trail is relatively flat for 3 miles then there's a gradual incline up to the top. Flat Rock Ridge Trail is narrower and will mostly be downhill, but there are a couple inclines. This trail is moderate to strenuous, with an elevation gain of 2423 feet.
