Stone Mountain Wolf Rock & Cedar Rock from Backpackers parking following the MST

Description:
Meet at the backpackers parking area just beyond Widow's Creek. After crossing the road & the Roaring River and we will proceed on the Mountains to Sea Trail - which gradually ascends with switchbacks to a junction with the Wolf Rock trail which leads to a short side trail to Wolf Rock where we'll take a break to enjoy the panoramic views. After returning to the Wolf Rock trail we will continue on to the Cedar Rock trail for another open viewpoint. We will return along the same route. Besides the astounding views this trail offers many points of interest - vegetation and rock formations.

Difficulty:
The hike is rated moderate. The total distance (out and back) is about 6 miles with a steady moderate incline for the first 2 miles. Our pace will be comfortable allowing time for photos, discussion and rest stops.
Weather: This hike is weather dependent. If the weather forecast turns inclement, we will possibly reschedule the event for a different day and time. If it is questionable, please check back here to the home page before the event to see if conditions have changed, we will try to update event status as timely as practical.
Other Info: You should expect roots, rocks and poor footing in some locations on the trails. To reduce the chance of a fall and for balance, a hiking pole or poles is recommended. Also, please wear shoes with good ankle support and traction. You should bring water, comfortable clothing appropriate for the weather and season (example: warm gear in cold weather and rain gear for seasonal hikes is always a good idea), a snack if desired (please pack out any trash), and during bug season a good repellant for mosquitos and ticks may be desired. Well-behaved dog on leash are welcome.
