New Year’s Day Hike and Celebration on Laurel Mountain

Join us for a 3 to 4 hour hike in Forbes State Forest near Laurel Mountain, followed by a celebration of the New Year.
Meet at 11 AM at the warming hut where the hike begins & ends.
We will hike 5 to 7 miles on various trails at about 2 mph. Most trails are fairly flat, rocky, with a few short climbs. Wear sturdy hiking shoes/boots.
Bring snacks and water for the hike, and also (optional) bring a snack or drink to share for the after- hike celebration. Please note that we may not have access to electricity for crock pots or the like.
Directions: From the West - Follow Rt. 30 east from Laughlintown 4.5 miles, at the top of the mountain make right onto Laurel Summit Rd. Follow Laurel Summit Rd about 2.4 miles, the warming hut will be on the left and parking is along the road on the right. From the East or South - Follow Rt. 30 west 3.7 miles from the light in Jennerstown, turn left at the “Truck Alert” sign onto Laurel Summit Rd. Follow Laurel Summit Rd about 2.4 miles, the warming hut will be on the left and parking is along the road on the right.
