Hike CREW Marsh Trails
Details
Hike 3.5 miles on CREW Marsh Trails. Join hike leader Debra Taylor for a special opportunity to be some of the first hikers to experience the new orange trail extension and to be accompanied by Robin Serne of the Corkscrew Regional Ecosystem Watershed.
Swallow Tailed Kites are back and known to nesting near our hike! Our Alligator Ambler Chapter heard about these acrobatic birds in our Feb meeting. We hope to observe them on our hike.
We will learn about the habitats that the orange, red and green trails take us through including pine flat woods, oak hammocks and along the edges of both a cypress slough and a 5,000-acre sawgrass marsh. All of these form part of a watershed that replenishes our regional aquifer, provides flood protection and is a peaceful place for us to enjoy natural Florida.
