On Sat. Sept. 26th the Alligator Amblers Chapter of the FL Trail Association will host a series of six 3 Mile hikes on the Florida Trail. The first of the six hikes (out and back) will start at 8AM on the North Section of the FL Trail at the I-75, Mile Marker 63, Rest-Stop, at the parking area on the North side of the highway, in the North-East parking area. Each hiking group will have 10-15 hikers and hike for about 80-90 minutes to complete a 3-mile (out and back) hike on the FL Trail. The six groups of hikers will start a group hike about every 20 minutes between 8AM and 10AM. So please arrive at the trailhead any time between 8-10 AM to join one of the six hike groups.

The 3-mile hikes will be on the FL Trail through flat pinewoods with many cypress trees. A few portions of the trail may be wet so be prepared to wade through up to 4 inches of water in places. Hikers will be provided a bottle of water if needed (if they do not bring their own water) to stay hydrated on the hike.

WHAT TO BRING: Each hiker is asked to bring a bottle of water, bug spray, sunscreen, and a change of dry socks and shoes in your car for the ride home. Optional are a hiking stick, a camera, and binoculars. Toilet facilities are available at the South side of the Rest Area at Mile Marker 63 on Interstate 75.

There will be no cost for this event. Public information booths/tents will be setup in the parking area to handout FL Trail Association and Big Cypress Park information.
