🚴 06/28 SAT 7:30 AM | THE CANELL PLUNGE (IMBA EPIC) | BLACK LEVEL 🚴

Details

Roll 8:45 am // Distance 25+ miles // Elevation 2,000+ feet

**NOTE: This is an official IMBA Epic back country ride at high altitude. You and your bike need to be in tip top shape. No bailout points on this one.

I'd prefer only people I have ridden with before.

We will be shuttling to the top. The shuttle ride takes a little under an 1 1/2 hours, followed by a 6 hour ride. The shuttle is $80 per person. We need a minimum of five riders. I will send you my Venmo after you RSVP.

The Cannell Trail, followed by The Plunge, is easily one of the most epic rides in California, if not the entire USA! This incredible 25+ mile ride with just 2,000 feet of climbing drops a whopping 8,400 over the course of the entire ride!

The Cannell Trail proper, or "Cannell Meadow Trail," passes through a verdant alpine meadow that leaves many riders astonished by its beauty. But as the trail begins to descend, the scenery returns to the dry, rocky, arid California mountains that dominate the landscape. The further you descend, the drier the terrain gets, until you’re swooping through classic So Cal desert terrain.

Despite the beautiful alpine meadows up high, the vast majority of this trail remains dry and dusty in true So Cal style. Many sections of the trail tread are smooth and flowy, with an old school XC flow flavor. Many of the corners are bermed naturally into the hillside, with unexpectedly tight, off-camber, and exposed corners forcing you to ride ultra-alert. Other portions of the trail are challenging and rocky, with some big, blocky rock features to test your skills.

BLACK RIDE
You are comfortable and confident at high speeds in technical terrain. Your cornering skills are excellent, and you can easily ride the apex of berms. You are skilled and confident at navigating a variety of technical features such as roots, rocks, mud, sand, and creek crossings. You are very skilled at shifting your weight to navigate technical climbs, descents and all trail features. You can bunny hop over obstacles and are confident to handle smaller jumps and drops.
