🚴 SAT 11/08 - TUES 11/11 | ST. GEORGE UTAH | ADVANCED BLUE LEVEL 🚴
Details
What's up party people in the place to be!?!?! Who is ready for this year's epic AMTR Fall Road Trip? I plan on driving up Friday afternoon/evening, riding Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and driving back on Tuesday.
Utah is an outdoor enthusiast’s paradise with beautiful national parks, equally stunning state parks, a ton of BLM land, and not to mention some of the best technical mountain bike trails in the country. Moab is usually the first place that comes to mind when riders think of Utah mountain biking destinations, but the trails in SW Utah are equally as majestic offering a greater variety of terrain and riding styles than Moab. There are technical mesa rides, flowy singletrack desert rides, a bike skills park, and the area is even home to the legendary Redbull Rampage.
My favorite thing about the area, compared to other nearby destinations like Sedona, is the solitude. Most of the tourists are heading for Zion, leaving the mountain bike trails free of the hustle and bustle that is prevalent in Sedona. No traffic jams here folks.
TENTATIVE SCHEDULE
*Rides Subject to Change
SAT 11/08: Little Creek Mesa
14+ miles | 1,000+ feet | Blue/Black
Gooseberry Mesa is the premiere trail in the region, but for my money ... Little Creek Mesa is the best trail in the area. Locals don't like to talk about it. There is no sign off the main road. There are no signs along the maze of 4.5 miles of dirt roads it takes to get to the trailhead. There is no sign at the trailhead.
SUN 11/09: Little Creek Mesa
10+ miles | 1,000+ feet | Blue/Black
*Another of the famous mesa trails in the area. The Whole Guacamole is located not too far outside of Zion National Park. You will ride through forests of pinion, juniper, other assorted brush, and even a petrified forest. The trail features a mix of technical singletrack, slickrock, and other technical rock feature epicness. Enjoy stunning views of Zion National Park, Gooseberry Mesa, and the Virgin River watershed. *
MON 11/10: TBD (Zen, Gooseberry, JEM)
I am not sure on the last ride, yet.
ADVANCED BLUE LEVEL RIDE
You have a strong understanding and practice with braking, shifting, cornering, and descending skills. You can navigate variable terrain at a good pace. You are confident and comfortable riding singletrack trails and can easily navigate roots, rocks, mud, sand, and creek crossings. You are capable of a front wheel and rear wheel lift and can put the two together to navigate over obstacles. You are fairly confident on steep climbs and descents, but you may walk sections on Black or Double Black trails.
