๐ด SAT 4/11 9:00AM | MARSHALL CANYON TO POTATO MOUNTAIN | ADV BLUE LEVEL ๐ด
Details
Distance 16+ miles // Elevation 3,000+ feet
NOTE: If it is your first time up to Potato Mountain, tradition dictates you bring a decorated potato.
The first part of the trail is one of the most beautiful sections of trail in SoCal. You ride along a stream under the cover of large oak trees with many people calling this section Sherwood Forest. There's a lot of shade, a lot of green, and the soil stays dark and moist when most places are dry as a bone. It is relatively flat and not very technical. After a few miles of riding through the shaded canyon, the scenery changes as the climb up to Potato Mountain begins. It is not for the faint of heart, but the views are stellar.
ADVANCED BLUE LEVEL RIDE
You have a strong understanding and practice with the skills of braking, shifting, cornering, and descending. You are able to navigate variable terrain at a good pace. You are confident and comfortable riding singletrack trails and can easily navigate roots, rocks, mud, sand, and creek crossings. You are capable of a front wheel and rear wheel lift and can put the two together to navigate over obstacles. You are fairly confident on steep climbs and descents, but you may walk sections on trails that are rated Black or Double Black.
