Arbor Day Walk, Historic Tavern Tour, Tree-Planting, and Elderberry Give-Away!
Details
Join us on Arbor Saturday for an event that will start at one of the oldest iconic buildings in Newtown township - the 1742 Tavern!
At 11:00 am we’ll take a relatively short hike - approximately 2 miles out and back - on Goshen Trail.
Additionally, Newtown Township’s Historic Society will open up the 1742 Tavern for tours and refreshments. And Parks & Rec will plant several native trees, and describe multiple important trees - like the massive sycamores - on this treasured property!
If you love native plants, we will also be offering cuttings from a fabulously healthy elderberry bush! Elderberries are a valuable plant that bears fragrant flowers and dark purple berries which have long been used for their medicinal properties. (Photo below.)
This is a family friendly event, and dogs on leashes are welcome - outside the tavern 😊
Looking forward to talking trees, hikes, and history with new friends and old - on Saturday, April 25th at 11 AM!
