Birding Apps Workshop & a Guided Hike!

## Discover the world of birds through your smartphone at this engaging, hands-on workshop - and guided hike at Garrett Williamson!

Whether you’re brand new to birding or already enjoy spotting birds in your neighborhood, this session will introduce you to two powerful tools used by birders around the world: the Merlin Bird ID and eBird mobile apps. During a 45-minute interactive workshop, you’ll learn how to identify birds, record your sightings, and contribute to real scientific research by sharing your observations with a global community.

After the workshop, we’ll take a short guided hike along the scenic trails at Garrett Williamson, giving you the chance to put your new skills into practice in a real-world setting. It’s a great opportunity to connect with nature, build confidence in bird identification, and see how your observations can make a difference.

About the Instructor
Manny Dominguez has been an active birder throughout Philadelphia and the surrounding counties since 2021. A dedicated member of the Delaware Valley Ornithological Club since 2022, he was honored as a Fellow of the Club in 2024 and previously served as its Secretary. That same year, Manny earned the prestigious Bob Billings Big Year Award after documenting an impressive 283 bird species across the Delaware Valley in a single year. He also plays a key role in advancing bird research as the Philadelphia County co-coordinator for the Third Pennsylvania Bird Atlas, a five-year initiative tracking bird populations across the state.
