Come join us on October 22nd in Honolulu's 6th year participating in the Global Day of Coderetreat :)

Global Day of Coderetreat is a world-wide event celebrating passion and software craftsmanship. Last year, on November 14th, 2015, over 2000 developers in 150 cities through 20 time zones dedicated the day to practicing their craft during the Global Day of Coderetreat 2015. You can find out more information about the day on the 2016 global day announcement.

A Coderetreat is a day-long, intensive practice event, focusing on the fundamentals of software development and design. By providing developers the opportunity to take part in focused practice, away from the pressures of 'getting things done', the coderetreat format has proven itself to be a highly effective means of skill improvement. Practicing the basic principles of modular and object-oriented design, developers can improve their ability to write code that minimizes the cost of change over time.

For an in-depth understanding of the philosophy behind a day of coderetreat, please watch the introduction in this video and check out his book on the subject Understanding the Four Rules of Simple Design
