Come join us on October 22nd in Honolulu's 6th year participating in the Global Day of Coderetreat :)

Global Day of Coderetreat is a world-wide event celebrating passion and software craftsmanship. Last year, on November 14th, 2015, over 2000 developers in 150 cities through 20 time zones dedicated the day to practicing their craft during the Global Day of Coderetreat 2015. You can find out more information about the day on the 2016 global day announcement. http://coderetreat.org/profiles/blogs/announcing-global-day-of-coderetreat-2016

A Coderetreat is a day-long, intensive practice event, focusing on the fundamentals of software development and design. By providing developers the opportunity to take part in focused practice, away from the pressures of 'getting things done', the coderetreat format has proven itself to be a highly effective means of skill improvement. Practicing the basic principles of modular and object-oriented design, developers can improve their ability to write code that minimizes the cost of change over time.

For an in-depth understanding of the philosophy behind a day of coderetreat, please watch the introduction in this video http://coderetreat.org/about and check out his book on the subject Understanding the Four Rules of Simple Design https://leanpub.com/4rulesofsimpledesign

Mahao to the HTDC for providing our venue at the Manoa Innovation Center "Ideation Room" Suite 160

Also thank you to our lunch and snack sponsor Real Geeks

Registration is open! You can RSVP at any time :) This event is language agnostic (not just ruby!) and intended for intermediate to advanced developers of any language looking to improve their level of software development, design and craft.

Aloha Honolulu Coderetreaters! Thanks again for registering. I want to send out a reminder to everyone since the event is tomorrow. The GDCR is already starting shortly in New Zealand, Australia, Japan... etc. You can follow them with the hashtag #gdcr16 on twitter (if the DDoS attack has subsided). For tomorrow please bring your own laptop with youR development environment of choice *already set up* and power plug. We'll be ordering food from Bangkok Chef for lunch http://bangkokchefexpress.com/Take-out%20Menu.pdf Please send me a direct message if you have dietary restrictions and will need something different. In the case you can't make it, no worries or pressure :) Please update your RSVP. We'll be buying some of the supplies tonight and need to know the exact count. See you all tomorow!!
