Want to try your hand at short stories but don’t know where to start?
Curious how to craft characters, scenes, and plots in just a few pages?
Join me, Ellee Achten -- a Portland-based multi-medium artist, writer, and creative instructor (MA in Creative Nonfiction, MFA in Fiction) -- for a free 1.5-hour online workshop focused on short story writing. This session is open to all skill levels, and there’s no limit on participants—come and play with words from anywhere via Zoom.
In this workshop, we’ll:
- Explore prompts and exercises to spark story ideas
- Experiment with structure, character, and voice
- Discuss scene-building, point of view, and pacing
- Share work in a supportive, low-pressure environment (optional)
- Leave with a short story draft and new tools to continue writing on your own
