Black Prince Lake - Hike

Distance: 10km

Some of our members will remember this hike from almost exactly 2 years ago!!

This is a stunning trail that starts with a moderate climb through subalpine forest to reach Warspite Lake with an elevation gain of just 120m. This will be the easy part of the hike. Once at the lake the trail continues through waist high grasses and flower meadows - this is where grizzlies like to hang out so a bear spray in hand, loud talking, staying together and being aware of your surroundings are all hugely important. After the meadows, we will come up to a boulder field leading us towards the waterfall with more wildflowers along the way. This is where the toughest part of the hike will start with a climb along the waterfall to reach the Black Prince Lake. We will take plenty of breaks climbing up with many opportunities to admire the views behind us. Wildflowers are in full bloom and the scenery alone will be worth the effort.

Members looking for an easier hike will have an option to stay at the bottom by the boulders and have lunch while the rest of the group hikes up to the lake. We will then regroup and hike down to the parking lot together.
