September 2011

NORTHERN VIRGINIA HOMEOPATHIC STUDY GROUP

at 1117 Roan Lane, Alexandria, VA

First Meeting - Thursday Sept. 8, 2011, 7:30-9:30 pm at 1117 Roan Lane, Alexandria, VA

Second Mtg – Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011, 7:30-9:30 pm at 1117 Roan Lane, Alexandria, VA

Our Study Group is now a Homeopathy Discussion Group. The main objectives are to deepen our understanding of homeopathy and to learn to think homeopathically. This knowledge can help us to more effectively provide information to our homeopaths, deal with the conventional medical community and make good decisions for our family and friends, and for a wide variety life situations. A major focus will be homeopathic philosophy.

We will continue to meet on two Thursdays a month.

The Internet Yahoo Group will continue so that we can share information on anything homeopathic.

Organon. We have decided to start with the founder and read the Organon. 2010 was the 200th anniversary of the publication of the first edition. It is amazing how each reading of the Organon reveals new information. The Wenda Brewster O'Reilly edited version is preferred, but you can also read the Dungoen, Boericke and Kunzli versions. (Kunzli does not have the Introduction.) It is well worth having at least one version. However, the Organon can be found online, including the Introduction, at http://hpathy.com/homeopathy-books-online/organon-of-medicine-samuel-hahnemann/

-organon-of-medicine/ Manish Bhatia at Hpathy.com has audio lectures on aphorisms 1-40, at http://hpathy.com/homeopathic-audio-content/lectures-on-organon-of-medicine/

First Meeting Details – Sept. 8

We will read aphorisms 35-42 with footnotes of the Organon on Dissimilar Diseases. Bring your questions and comments.

Also please read The Medical Observer from the Introduction from Hahnemann's Materia Medica Pura. It can be found online at http://www.wholehealthnow.com/homeopathy_pro/medical-observer.html

If you cannot access, email Carol at [address removed] or call[masked] to receive a pdf file.

Second Meeting Details - Sep 22

Organon. Read Aphorisms 43-49 on Similar Diseases. The additional reading for the second meeting an interesting article by Manfred Mueller entitled How Homeopathic Myths Are Born: Thoughts on Hering’s “Inauguration Speech” from the American Homeopath journal.
