Crossbones Cemetary Ritual Visit
Details
Come join us to visit the Crossbones Cemetary Ritual on Thurs 23rd Oct at 6.45pm.
In the back streets of South London, a short walk from Shakepeare's Globe, Southwark Cathedral and The Shard is the site of an old burial ground with an extraordinary history. For centuaries it was a paupers graveyard for the area formerly known as The Mint, one of London's poorest and most violent slums. According to local lore, it was once the final resting place for the Winchester Geese, medieval sex workers licensed by the Bishop of Winchester to work in the brothels of the Liberty of the Clink, which lay outside the law of the City of London.

The ritual is in rememberance of the forgotten poor; you can light a candle and join in, or just observe.
You can meet us there for 6.45pm, or you can meet us at London Bridge station at 5pm (Borough Market Exit). Please make sure you go to the correct exit. We plan to visit Borough Market and may get a bite to eat there.
If you would like to join the whatsapp group please contact an organiser.
