FEMINISM IN ART_body & narrative

Details

What is feminist art? What does it look like? How does it feel? This course will deep dive into specific groundbreaking works as well as the careers of female artists that have defined and continue to pose questions about womanhood, feminism, the body, gender roles, queer identity, and more. From Meat Joy by Carolee Schneemann to the current rising career of Bárbara Sánchez-Kane, you will dialogue with the group about historical and contemporary implications of feminist art. Through this 5 day course, the goal is not to provide answers as to the questions that pertain to feminism in art, but rather to form part of and continue to push the past, present, and future dilemmas and questions that arise surrounding feminism as a mode of creation.
