Big Meadows to Scotts Lake with Camping After

Details

Exploratory Hike (I have not hiked this trail)

According to the trailguide, we will be walking through grooves of Aspen and juniper trees with views of Big Meadow. The trail is a mix of sun and shade, with a fairly steady uphill (because we love going up! 🤪) Some of the trail is rocky also.

Mileage: 6.25
Elevation gain: 964'
High/low: 8127'/7248
Restroom: supposed to be a pit toilet

What to bring: Water, bug spray, sunscreen, lunch/snacks and a swimsuit/towel/water shoes if want to try the water.

Dogs are ok but must be on leash.

We will start at the Big Meadows trailhead. Google Big Meadow Trailhead for directions. You will turn into the Big Meadows campground. Keep a sharp lookout as they say its easy to miss. After entering, make a quick left and park in free lot.
**note: we do have to walk back across hwy 89 to continue on trail.

Camping: Laurie and I will be camping after the hike so that we can hike the next days hike to Round Top Lake (Barbara's hike-see posting). The plan is to camp at either Hope Valley Campground or go on down to Woods Lake campground. Both are on a first come basis now and should have space.
