We will be fishing for Shad which should be in full swing at the time of this outing. Shad, an anadromous fish, can grow to over 6 lbs. and are known for their fierce and never ending fight when hooked.

Directions;
Hwy 50 to Sunrise Blvd, drive north and turn left on to Coloma Rd. then Rt. on El Manto Dr. Proceed to and thru the unmanned parking booth.
There is a $5 access fee. Fill out the supplied envelope and deposit your fee into the receptacle. Be sure and tear off the receipt and place it on your dash. There is a $57 fine if you fail to pay your fee or forget to place your receipt on your dash. If you are a veteran the fee is waived but you must place a copy of you military ID on your dash. Go to the second parking lot on the left. That will be our meeting place. The first parking lot on the right does have bathrooms.
It's a 1 hr. and 10 min. drive from Jackson to our meeting spot.
Dress in layers, we will be fishing into the evening and it can become a bit chilly. It's also a good idea to bring a flashlight.
Bring your own drinks and snacks.
I would rate the difficulty of this outing as moderate due to water temp and wading in moderate current.
This is an anadromous fishery and a Steelhead Report Card filled out prior to fishing is required.
