Postponed! Heritage Trout Horse Packtrain: no takers, next year??????

Details

Needed a couple signups to lock in the dates, as none occurred we will try again next year with more lead time.

Jim

Explore the remote Kern wilderness via horse packtrain to
fish for three heritage trout; Kern River Rainbow, Volcano Creek California Goldens, and Little Kern River Goldens! You could backpack into this area, but riding is much better, you don't have to carry anything, and you can bring just about everything, within limits.

View this YouTube video for a great overview of the trip: Golden Trout Pack Trains - Kern River Fly Fishing

The trip starts at the Golden Trout Packtrain stables on the western side of the Sierras not far from Porterville, it's about a 6-hour drive from Sutter Creek. We arrive in the afternoon of Sunday August 24, we are feed and overnight in tent cabins at the pack station for an extra fee that I need to get an amount for. We begin the ride early the next morning.

## general trip itinerary

Day 1: Ride to Grey Meadow (2 hr) and fish for Little Kern Golden trout
Day 2: Ride to Big Kern Lake (6 hr)
Day 3: Camp at Big Kern Lake and fish for Kern River Rainbow trout
Day 4: Day ride to Volcano Creek (2 hr ride) and fish for California Golden Trout
Day 5: Camp at Big Kern Lake
Day 6: Ride 7 hours to return to Pack station

We could make this a 5 day trip which would cost a bit less, it's something we need to discuss. But to get started we need 3 more people to sign up. I will be going and the group size is limited to 6 but 4 would be enough to lock in the dates. Which we need to do as soon as possible!

Price 5 day trip $2350 or 6 days $2790
Plus wrangler tips, gas and meals to and from the pack station as well.
A deposit is needed for each rider, contact me and I'll send you the deposit information.

For a complete list of items to bring and trip details go to: Heritage Trout Challenge Roving Trips — Golden Trout Pack Station You will need to bring your own tent on this one. I have two backpack tents and can find a third if needed. ***Padded biking shorts/underwear are helpful as they are padded in all the right places! You can get them on Amazon.
