Crater Lake by Hope Valley

Details
This is a beautiful High Alpine Lake experience. The lake overlooks Hope Valley and Charity Valley. The brook trout fishing can be spectacular.
We are not able to drive completely to the lake unless you have a rugged 4x4 or side by side. It is about a mile hike from where we will park our cars. The elevation gain is about 450 feet. If someone attending does have a high clearance 4x4, they could haul the gear to make the hike much easier.
The lake has had excellent dry fly action, dry dropper, streamers and indicator fishing. The brook trout are your typical smaller high alpine trout.
You can fish from the bank or float tube. If you bring a float tube, be sure to bring a backpack to strap in on or straps to you tube.
We will be meeting at the Red Lake overlook just past the Carson Pass ranger station. It’s not the road immediately past the station. It is 200 to 400 yards past that road. It obviously looks over Red Lake. We can then talk about potential car pooling. You need a 4wd, to make it to the pull out spot. If you don’t have one, you can car pool.
Let’s plan on meeting at 7:50 and ready to roll out at 8:00.
Anything from a 3 to 5 wt is perfect. Sometimes the wind can pick up at that elevation. Dry Flies: Parachute Adams, Purple Haze, Elk Hair Caddis, Royal Wolf, hoppers, Stimulators, ect.
Streamers: Woolly buggers, ect.
Nymphs: Pheasant Tail, Hares Ear, prince nymphs, Cooper John, ect.
