2025 Yuba Fest

The Northern California Council Fly Fishers International has extended an invitation to attend the 2025 Yuba Fest to all fly fishing clubs along with the general public.
Below is an email that I received from Bob Fujimura requesting fly donations for their fund raiser. I have donated in the past and will again donate this year. If you're a fly tyer please consider donating as well to this worth wild cause.

Hi Joe
We greatly appreciated your past donations of personally tied flies and hope the Council can receive a similar donation to this year's event on Sept 6th. Your donation made a significant contribution to the fundraising and hope you or someone from Amador Flyfishers can contribute.

We also know that many of your members will not be able to participate due to travel or personal scheduling challenges. However, another way that your club can support the event is to donate member-tied flies for the event’s silent auction.

Our auction is a fun and easy way to advertise your club’s participation and publicly recognize your members’ work or donation. We will display the donor’s contribution though custom labelling and signage identifying the donor’s name and club affiliation. For those attending this event, our auctions were a major attraction and part of the event entertainment. Finally, our fly boxes are a significant source of fundraising for this event and its proceeds help support NCCFFI’s efforts toward club outreach, education, and conservation projects. Thank you for volunteering to donate flies for the upcoming Yuba Festival’s silent auction.

Yuba Fest is a gathering of Northern California fly fishers and organizations to meet and
celebration this sport, fly tying, our youth and the water resources that our sport depends on.
The event is also the major fundraiser for NCCFFI whose donations/sales help sponsor its fly
fishing outreach and education efforts. The donated fly sets/boxes were a significant source of
income for the previous Yuba Fest auctions. With your generosity, we hope your donations will
be just as successful in 2025, provide desirable prizes to the event’s guests, and help spread the
word of your donation or tying skills.
What to contribute
We asked advanced tyers who volunteered with the Sacramento ISE Show to donate fly patterns
popular with fly fishers who fish
the Lower Yuba River
such as:
Yuba Pinkie
TJ Hooker Tan and coffee
Frenchie
Blowtorch
March Brown soft hackle
Parachute March Brown
BWO and PMD 's
Pheasant tail nymph
Cripple PMD, BWO and March Browns
Skwala Dry
Skwala Nymph

However,
flies popular for generic river or stream fishing for beginning or intermediate fishers
are always well received
. Non-tyers are welcome to donate commercially tied flies. If you do
tie, we also accept any fly collections or patterns that you passionately enjoy tying or sharing.
Donation Size & Label Information
We would like each donor to provide
12 or more flies
. Boxed set will be ideal but loose flies are
welcomed since we have some fly boxes to display donated flies. You can also combine flies
provided as a club donation for marketing or advertising purposes.
Auction customers like reading
background information
on these offered flies such as the name
of the donor or tyer, the organization they are associated with, names of the flies, target water
or use (“great for fishing the Lower Yuba River”), and any other information that you wish to
share with the bidder (“these are my favorite nymphing patterns”). I will make efforts to
provide this information along with your flies by printing customized box inserts as I did for all
donated boxes for the 2023 and 2024. No need for labelling your donated flies or boxes. Just
provide the requested information on a sheet of paper.

donations by email and send you a letter of appreciation after the event. I will also display your name as the tyer or donor at the event. Let me know if you would like your donation to be anonymous. Your donation should arrive to me by no later than
September 1
. It will be very
helpful if you can send me your donation sooner for marketing and recognition purposes.

Gather the donated flies and send them to me no later than September 1. Early donations will be greatly appreciated for easier assembling, packaging, labelling, and sending thank you notes to the individual tiers or donors. Some early donations will be used to advertise this event to our community.
