Picketpost Mountain is an awe-inspiring butte that rises almost 2,000 feet above the town of Superior, Arizona.

Hike description:

From the trailhead we will hike to the backside of the mountain (About 1 ½ hours). Then we will take a left and hike off trail straight up to the top - not easy - steep. There is some scrambling - not a lot of scrambling and If you do not feel comfortable doing the scramble there is a non-scramble route. At the top we will visit four different overlooks. Then we will hike down.

Going up is not easy as it is steep - you need to be in shape. Going down is not easy even though there is a trail due to some scrambling over large boulders.

Distance: Around five miles

Time: More likely around 6 hours but plan for 8.

Hike speed: Average (Not too quick and not too slow).

Standard boiler plate: Bring food and water. Long pants and long-sleeve shirts are recommended for climbing over rocks and navigating through brush. I always bring one hiking pole.

CARPOOL LOCATION: 8:00 am at Home Depot parking lot 1545 S. Crismon Rd Mesa, AZ 85209 - by Popeyes. I will be standing next to my grey Mazda.

If carpooling please remember to contribute towards gas for those that use their vehicle to drive to trailhead.
