Quartz Peak in the Sierra Estrella Wilderness

• One of the highest points in the Sierra Estrella Wilderness, Quartz Peak offers spectacular views from atop a unique summit block made of white quartz. This challenging trail has beautiful vistas of the Rainbow Valley as it climbs a rugged ridge from the valley floor to the crest of the Sierra Estrella.

This is not really a heavily trafficked trail, due to the fact the road to reach the trailhead is by no means accessible via a car nor low clearance SUV. There is highway and pavement until dirt road at intersection of W. Riggs Rd. & S. Bullard Ave.

Due to the unknown of how many can accommodate carpooling, this hike will definitely be capped at 20 hikers.

CARPOOL LOCATION: 7:30AM Behind the Circle K in the Bashas' Parking lot, 21044 N John Wayne Pkwy, Maricopa, AZ corner of Maricopa Rd Highway #347 & W. Smith Enke Rd. Highway #238. If you have a truck or high clearance SUV, are you willing to accommodate carpoolers?
Please comment how many passengers may ride with you. From this parking lot we will caravan the trucks & H.C. SUV to the trailhead approximately 45 min.

We will meet at trailhead for hike at 8:30am

Start hiking at 8:30 AM

Distance: 5.7 miles;

Elevation: 2,300' +/-

DURATION: 4 - 4 1/2 hours

Difficulty: Difficult / Strenuous Out & Back

Weather: Low low 40F. High low 70F.

As always, bring lots of water, nutritious snacks, sturdy footwear, hiking poles (personal choice), gloves, sunscreen, camera, flashlight (for evening hikes), and any other items that you as an EXPERIENCED hiker likes to bring on your hikes. Also very important your sense for an Amazing Arizona Adventure!
