Infrastructure as code (IaC)

Infrastructure as code (IaC) is the process of managing and provisioning through machine-readable definition files, rather than interactive configuration tools. AWS CloudFormation allows you to use a simple text file to model and provision, in an automated and secure manner, all the resources needed for your applications across all regions and accounts. In combination with GitHub Actions this offers an easy and deterministic workflow to define a desired state and get it up and running. We will walk through the basics of IaC, CloudFormation Templates and GitHub Actions to finally deploy a simple Environment to AWS.
