Description: Please join us in celebrating an afternoon of camaraderie and lunch with AMC CT chapter members. We are grateful to those folks who participate in the many outdoor activities offered, and to the volunteers who lead these activities. In addition, we thank members who inform us on Connecticut environmental and conservation issues. Come join the party, meet new people, learn how you can get involved. No walk-ins, advance registration required. Please leave pets at home. All pre-picnic activities will be posted under this link - all AM activities are free.
Here's the tentative schedule: 9:30am: Hike - Moderate 9:00 am: Hike - Vigorous 11:00 am Casual hike (meet at pavilion) 12:30 pm Lunch (sandwiches, salad, snacks, non alcoholic beverages, dessert) Door prize
As an expansion of Leave No Trace principles, so as to reduce our environmental impact, everyone is requested to bring their own reusable plates, cups and flatware. Thank you for your understanding and participation.
What to Bring: chair, bug spray and sunscreen. Optional: Bring your used gear in good to excellent working condition. Also travel, outdoor skill /adventure books to trade or give away. Donation Opportunity: The Brian Gibbons Outreach Program is a small, two-man program that strives to improve the lives of homeless people in Waterbury and Naugatuck. The program is constantly in need of outdoor equipment: smaller tents, sleeping bags and mats, backpacks, camping stoves, one-pound propane canisters, gently-used pillows and blankets, men's jackets, mittens/gloves. No clothing other than men's jackets, please. No footwear. If you have any of this gear and are looking to pass it along, please bring it to the picnic; I'll get things to the Outreach Program.
ONLINE REGISTRATION REQUIRED - Cost: $6.00 for members and all children under 12, $10 for nonmember adults. Registration will be limited to 55 participants for the picnic. Price increases to $10 after July 8th and closes 8pm Thursday July 10th. PLEASE NOTE - if you have out-of-state plates, you will be required to pay $15 for parking either at the gate or via QR Code.
