Description: Our 20's & 30's Committee will be leading a hike of the Sleeping Giant Tower Trail in Hamden, CT. This will be a ~3.2 mile hike (out-and-back) with approximately 600 ft elevation gain. The trail is a wide, gravel path that climbs steadily through scenic switchbacks, leading to the iconic stone observation tower with 360-degree views of New Haven and Long Island Sound.
Participants must bring: Minimum 1 liter of water Snacks as necessary Any layers as weather dictates (it can be windy at the top of the tower!) Sturdy hiking or walking shoes Parking: Parking at Sleeping Giant is free for CT-registered vehicles via the Passport to the Parks program. FREE – In-State Registered Vehicles $15 – Out-of-State Vehicles (Weekends/Holidays) $6 – Out-of-State Vehicles (Weekends, after 4pm) $10 – Out-of-State Vehicles (Weekdays) $112 – Out-of-State Vehicles (Season Pass)
Social: After the hike, if there is interest, we will head over to Mikro Depot in Hamden (less than a 5-minute drive) to continue with the social. Mikro is a local favorite known for its incredible craft beer selection and elevated comfort food, located right near the park.
Confirmed participants can expect an email in advance with weather updates, a link to a Google Sheet for those who would like to carpool (fyi, if your car plate is out of state then carpooling with someone in state can save you on parking fee), and further meeting location/parking details.
