Description: Our 20's & 30's Committee will be leading a hike of the Giuffrida Park Loop in Meriden, CT. This scenic route offers a perfect blend of peaceful lakeside walking and rewarding ridgeline views. We will take the blue-blazed Mattabesett Trail up to the crest of Chauncey Peak. The initial ascent is steady and rocky, but it levels out to reveal stunning cliffside vistas of Crescent Lake (Bradley-Hubbard Reservoir) and the surrounding valley. We’ll finish with a gentle stroll along the water’s edge. The hike is a roughly 4 miles loop with about 800 ft of elevation gain.
Participants must bring: Minimum 1 liter of water Snacks as necessary Any layers as weather dictates (it can be windy at the top of the tower!) Sturdy hiking or walking shoes Parking: Parking is free.
Social: After we finish the loop, if there is interest, we’ll head over to Taino Smokehouse in Meriden (approx. 10-minute drive). It’s a great spot for our group to grab some authentic BBQ or a local craft beer and warm up by the fire if it's chilly out!
Confirmed participants can expect an email in advance with weather updates, a link to a Google Sheet for those who would like to carpool, and further meeting location/parking details.
