Description: Discover the beauty of Mount Higby on this rewarding hike along a traprock ridge in the heart of Connecticut. We will meet at 8:45 am at Tynan Memorial Park in Middletown. Hiking start time is 9:00 AM. Our route follows the Tynan Park Connector to join the Mattabesett Trail. As we climb, we will reach a massive rocky ridge that offers some beautiful views. Our route is about 5.5 miles with 1,046 ft of elevation gain. This is an “out & back” hike, not a loop. Since the route is quite rocky, please wear sturdy hiking footwear. Bring plenty of water and snacks/lunch. It is always a good idea to carry a personal first aid kit and let the leader know of any health conditions that you might have.
You can access a map at this link https://meridenlandtrust.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/higby_beseck_tri.pdf and we will be following this Alltrails route https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/connecticut/mount-higby-via-tynan-park-connector-and-mattabesett-blue-trail
