Description: All hikers must pre-register online. Meet at 8:45 for a prompt 9:00 start to this hike of about 2.4 miles around Crescent Lake, including some of the Metacomet Trail to a viewpoint. Much of the hike is fairly level, but there is one hill: we will take our time here and will rest several times. No dogs. The footing varies from packed dirt to uneven rocks and roots, so proper hiking footwear with good traction is mandatory: no sneakers. Poles are recommended. Hikers must bring water, a snack, sunscreen, insect and tick repellent, personal medications and first-aid supplies. Parking is in a large lot at 495 Shuttle Meadow Road, Southington. There is a porta-potty here, and woods if you prefer. In case of rain cancelling our plans, an email message will be posted by 6:30 a.m. the morning of the hike.
