Description: 🌅 After-Work Wind Down: The Putnam River Trail Stroll 🚶♂️🚶♀️ Ditch the desk and trade the screen for some scenery! Join us for a weekend "reset" as we walk the Putnam River Trail . This 2.9-mile paved path is the perfect way to stretch your legs, catch the evening light on the Quinebaug River, and decompress with some great company. We’ll enjoy a flat, easy-going route that passes through the heart of Putnam’s historic mill district and over scenic footbridges. It’s low-stress, high-reward, and the perfect length to finish before it gets too late.
👟 The Stats Distance: ~2.9 miles (out and back) Elevation Gain: Minimal/Flat — very easy on the legs. Difficulty: Paved, level, and beginner-friendly. Four-Legged Friends: Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash at all times. 🐕🦺
🎒 What to Bring Comfortable Shoes: Sneakers or walking shoes are perfect for the pavement. 👟 Hydration: A water bottle to stay refreshed. 💧 Layers: The temperature can drop quickly near the water once the sun starts to go down; bring a light jacket. 🌬️ Evening Vibes: Bring your stories from the workday—or better yet, leave the work talk at the trailhead! ✌️
🅿️ Parking & Logistics Parking: Free public parking is available at the trailhead area off Kennedy Drive, across the street from Walgreens. If this small lot is full, then a quarter of a mile down Kennedy Drive there are more parking lots on both sides of the road. Meeting Spot: The exact meeting location will be sent out to confirmed participants via email.
🍦 Post-Walk Social: Ice Cream & Mini Golf After we finish our stroll, we’ll head over to Riverview Ice Cream that is across the road from the trail to grab some well deserve ice cream! If the group is feeling competitive and the course at Riverview is open, we can also play a round of mini golf to wrap up the night.
