Description: Ca. 6 miles, 3-4 hours, minimal elevation gain. (B3C). The Mattabesett Trail is a CFPA Blue-blazed trail and part of the New England Trail (NET). Join us for a pleasant forest walk. We will meet at the Rt. 77 parking lot for the Mattabesett Trailhead for car pool to our starting point, the Lone Pine Trail Trailhead at the Braemore Preserve. We will proceed on the Lone Pine Trail through Braemore Preserve and link up with the Mattabesett Trail for our return to Rt. 77 parking via the Broomstick Ledges. Bring 1-2 liters of water for hot weather. Mattabesett Trailhead on Rt. 77 at 41°24'28.8" N 72°41'46.4" W. (These coordinates more accurate than system-generated coordinates.) Off-road parking area with wooden fence, on right side of Rt. 77 going southbound. Nearest intersection is Burt Rd., north of trailhead. Or search “Bluff Head Trail, Guilford, CT 06437” on Google Maps. Meet at the by 8:45 for 9:00 a.m. start. Registration requested.
