Join Paula Burton for an immersive journey through Kyoto and beyond. In November 2025, Paula spent three weeks exploring Japan during the peak of the vibrant fall foliage season. Her journey centered on solo walks to historic shrines and temples, an exploration of local culinary traditions, and a three-day e-bike excursion to the "Art Island" of Naoshima. From peaceful side trips to traditional onsens (hot springs) to the deep cultural engagement of solo travel, Paula captures the essence of Japan’s unique landscape.
About the Speaker Paul Burton - A dedicated AMC CT Chapter member and leader for over 30 years, Paula has served in numerous roles, including past Chapter Chair and is actively an August Camp leader. Her passion for the outdoors extends to trail advocacy, building, and access. Beyond AMC she is an active XC skier and a mountain biking and downhill ski instructor, as well as an artist and poet—perspectives she brings to all her international travels.
