Description: This will be a strenuous but moderately-paced loop hike of 6+ miles to Hezekiah’s Knob (Right Foot) and back, with rest stops as needed. Street parking on Tuttle Ave near the Mill River bridge. Meet at Diamond Trail trailhead near bridge. We will take the Red Diamond Trail along Mill River to the floor of the closed quarry (“Head”). Aerobic ascent with rock scrambling onto the Head via Quinnipiac (Q) Blue Trail along southern rim of quarry, with great views. Descend off “Head” on Q Trail to begin ascent to Tower, avoiding the busy Tower Trail. Continue on Q trail along ridge (“Left Hip”) with great eastward views. Take Red Circle and Green Trails to Hezekiah’s Knob (half-way point). Return trip via White Trail, with great views to south. Proceed past park picnic area to rejoin Red Diamond Trail along the Mill River back to Trailhead. Bring 1-2 liters of water and lunch/snacks. Meet at Tuttle Ave. Trailhead closest to the Mill River bridge (Diamond Trail) at 8:45 a.m. for 9:00 start. There is on-street parking nearby, both sides of road. Dennis Jakiela, HL 203-710-1406.
