Description: Join us for a fantastic after-work Friday fall foliage trek along the ridge at Talcott Mountain in Simsbury/Avon! We’ll be exploring one of Connecticut’s most iconic trap rock ridges, combining historic landmarks with breathtaking, miles-long panoramic views of the changing autumn colors. 🌄🍁🌲 Starting from the main trailhead, we’ll make our way along the Tower Trail (Yellow blaze), traversing gorgeous wooded slopes, dramatic rock ledges, and open trap rock outcroppings. Along the way, we'll pass by the historic Heublein Tower standing proudly atop the ridge, offering a stunning panoramic vantage point that on a clear day stretches all the way to Long Island Sound and the Berkshires. This route is roughly 3 to 3.5 miles with steady rolling elevation gain - a rewarding, moderately paced outing with some of the best scenery in the Hartford area. 🎒 What to Bring: 1–2 liters of water 💧 Trail snacks to keep your energy up 🥨 Sturdy footwear / hiking boots (Recommended; the ridge features rocky sections and uneven terrain) 🥾 Hiking poles (optional) 🦯 Headlamp or flashlight (Always a smart safety essential in case we catch the sunset or finish near dusk) 🔦 🅿️ Parking: FREE for in-state registered vehicles. For out-of-state vehicles, fees are $15 on weekends and holidays, $10 on weekdays, or $112 for a season pass. 🍽️ Social Dinner: After we finish the hike, we’ll head over to Talcott Mountain Collective for a post-hike dinner!
