Description: Join our Appalachian Mountain Club 20s & 30's community for a sunset walk around the historic and scenic ocean village of Stony Creek and its surrounding salt marshes. We'll start with the Trolley Trail walk/hike along with a few side trails for an approximate total of 2.8 miles (may be shortened a little due to daylight). After we get back, we will walk through the village to the Thimble Islands Ferry dock bringing the total distance to 3.5 miles. Please bring a headlamp or other light source due to the sunset of 6:10pm.

New people are always welcome! Registration is suggested for communication purposes, but not required. Unregistered participants simply have to sign the AMC waiver at the start. Any final notes and weather postponements/cancellations will be emailed to registered participants 1-3 days before. Would like to bring a well-behaved dog? Prefer there not to be a dog on the hike for any reason? Please coordinate with the leader in advance. The end time is just an estimate. After we are finished, we may (optionally) reconvene for a meal at nearby Sky Diner.

What to bring:
Footwear/water for 3 miles on trails and up to 4 miles on foot. Snacks / bug spray as needed. Headlamp / light source.
Directions: We will meet outside the front entrance of the Willoughby Wallace Memorial Library at 146 Thimble Island Rd. There is plenty of free street parking, just make sure to avoid the library parking lot, as this is for library patrons. You can identify me by my sky blue hiking backpack and red folder.

About
Founded in 1876, the Appalachian Mountain Club is a non-profit organization that promotes the protection, enjoyment, and understanding of the mountains, forests, waters, and trails of America’s Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. The word "club" by no means implies exclusivity: AMC is a welcoming community where people of all backgrounds can come together and enjoy the outdoors. The Connecticut Chapter of AMC is active across the state and volunteers organize hundreds of activities annually. The CT Young Members Committee is geared towards participants in their 20s & 30s. Some goals of the 20s & 30s group is to add more frequent activities and expand into multi-day adventures such as camping trips, hostels, backpacking, and destination trips that build community and lasting friendships. This activity is geared towards those who identify as in their 20s & 30s; for more information please review this document.
