Dolly Sods, West Virginia/Labor Day Backpacking 4 Day trip

Details

4-day backpacking traveling approximately 5 to 8 miles a day. Dolly sods is the area's premier wilderness! Spectacular views. Cozy campsites. No roads, no bikes, no power tools. Probably no cell reception. We could see deer, beaver and butterflies.

Everyone brings their own food and their own water treatment as well as camping gear. Some gear available for loan. Weather should be fairly warm, but cooler than DC, and we could have some rain. We will try to hike earlier in the day to avoid seasonal afternoon thunderstorms. Regular rains keep parts of the wilderness area muddy, so waterproof boots/shoes are a help, and you might try gaiters. At least bring extra socks.

You need a level of fitness suitable for carrying your pack several miles -- maybe 25-30 pounds. We are happy to consult on any questions you may have--like how to pack gear and food to help keep your pack weight down.
