Overnight Paddling trip on South Fork of Shenadoah River & Learn about the AMC

Details

In September we're hosting a series of activities allowing you to learn more about the outdoor and conservation work of the Appalachian Mountain Club.

We will take advantage of the Down River Canoe Company’s services for a two day paddling and camping trip. Either rent their boat, or have them transport your own boat. We will be paddling 24 miles, with the current, over two days – 4 or 5 hours of paddling each day. This is a great overnight trip starting at Fort Stover with camping in Golden Rock Campground at Compton Rapid (the prettiest spot on the river).

Sept. 13 we will meet at the Down River Canoe Company in the morning. After a short introduction to AMC, we will have a trip briefing from the AMC Volunteer leader and a safety briefing from Down River Canoe Company.
