Audience: AdultsDescription: Join us for a hike to Wildcat D and Wildcat Mountain (A Peak), which comprise two of NH’s 48 4000 footers. We will climb via the ski trails. The ski trails offer nearly continuous views, especially in the upper half. After the observation tower at the summit of Wildcat D, we will continue on the Wildcat Ridge Trail. This out-and-back hike is 9 miles with 3,500’ of elevation gain.
We will be hiking at a moderate pace and we should complete the trip in around 8-9 hours. This is rated as Strenuous according the AMC's Trip Rating Criteria. Participants should be in good physical condition and have hiking experience of similar mileage and elevation. This hike is open to all that qualify and you do not have to be a member of AMC to participate. Online registration is required and you can expect to be contacted for additional screening prior to confirmation. To address unforeseen challenges such as adverse weather, unacceptable trail conditions or excessive crowding, the planned trip destination, activity and/or meeting place and time may be modified. Audience: EveryoneDescription: Join us for a grand tour of every single trail in the Fowl Meadow area , Yes, all of them. Don’t worry, the terrain is so flat you could probably balance a cup of coffee the whole way… though I wouldn’t recommend testing that on mile seven.
This is a longer hike (7–8 miles) , but we’ll break it up with a luxurious, fine‑dining, white‑tablecloth, Michelin‑starred… okay, it’s a trail lunch. Bring your own sandwich. We’ll be moving at a slightly faster than moderate pace, and I expect we’ll be back at the cars between 2 and 3 pm , depending on how many times we stop to admire a leaf.
Everyone who registers will be automatically confirmed, with the final screening happening at the trailhead: which is a polite way of saying: if you show up in flip‑flops, Jeans, or anything that squeaks when wet, I will sadly have to send you home to rethink your life choices. If you’re unsure about your ability, your gear, or whether this hike is for you, just email me and we’ll chat. I promise I’m friendlier than the mosquitoes.
The plan is to meet at the end of Royal Street at 9:45 AM for a 10:00 AM start.
If only a few people register, we may carpool to the tiny parking lot at the north end of Fowl Meadow, saving about a mile. If a big group shows up, we’ll all start from Royal Street like a cheerful hiking parade.
What to bring: – About 2 liters of water – Your lunch – Trail snacks – A small backpack – Bug spray or a bug net (the local mosquitoes are very friendly and love meeting new people)
This late in the season, flooding is unlikely 'u nlikely , not impossible'. If the Neponset River decides to get dramatic after heavy rain, the riverside trail might be underwater. In that case, bring water shoes or enjoy an early lunch while we complete the loop and reunite with you about 40 minutes later.
And now, the question on everyone’s mind: the afterparty . Yes, of course there’s an afterparty. Trillium’s microbrewery is just down the street, ready to reward your heroic accomplishments.Reminder: Please click the RSVP link above to register!

Audience: AdultsDescription: It’s not every year that you turn 150 years old—but in 2026, AMC does! What better way to mark this milestone than with a year-long celebration filled with outdoor adventures, including a 1,500-mile relay stretching from Virginia to Maine. Since 1876, AMC has been connecting people to the outdoors through recreation, education, and conservation. Each leg of the relay contributes to a continuous route across the Northeast, showcasing the diversity of AMC’s outdoor legacy. Join the celebration by participating in a relay segment, attending a local event, or sharing your AMC story. Together, we’ll honor the past and shape the future of outdoor adventure. About This Hike: This relay segment is a three-day, two-night trek across the Northern Presidential Range, with overnight stays at Lakes of the Clouds Hut and Madison Spring Hut. Mt. Madison (5,363 ft.) Weather permitting, we’ll be rewarded with some of the most breathtaking views in the White Mountains, as well as the songs of alpine birds along the way.
Total Distance: ~20 miles Total Elevation gain: ~7,650 ft. Pace: 1–1.5 mph Rating: Vigorous This route involves rugged, uneven terrain, steep inclines, water crossings, and occasional rock scrambles. Participants should be physically fit and experienced with similar distances, elevation gain, and terrain. The Hut Experience:
In addition to incredible hiking, we’ll enjoy the legendary hospitality of AMC’s High Mountain Huts. At both Lakes of the Clouds and Madison Spring, the Croo will provide hearty dinners, breakfasts, warm blankets, and pillows. Evening entertainment and naturalist talks make the experience even more memorable. And don’t miss the magic of stepping outside after dinner to see the stars from high above the valley—it’s an unforgettable sight. Whether you’ve stayed at an AMC hut before or this is your first time, you’re in for a real treat.
