Advanced weekday Blue Hills Skyline End to End and back

Join us as for an advanced, strenuous traverse the Blue Hills Reservation Skyline Train from end to end and back for an approximately 16 mile hike. This route has many ascents and descents over rocky terrain. Elevation gain is roughly 3,500 feet. “Sites” along the way: St. Moritz Ponds, Rattlesnake Hill, small quarries, Houghton’s Pond, Buck Hill, Elliot Tower. Views of Boston, Boston Harbor are rewarding on a clear day. This hike is high intensity and strenuous due to the terrain, speed, and length. This is NOT a beginner hike. It is geared toward those who have hiked similar mileage, speed, and long days.
Participants should be in good physical shape, hike regularly and prepared for an average fast pace of 2.2 to 2.5 miles per hour. Minimal stopping is the name of the game. We will likely not sit for lunch due to the long day so be prepared to eat while moving or during a quick stop.

Blue Hills Reservation is a popular hiking and mountain biking destination located about 10 miles south of downtown Boston. The Massachusetts State Park offers more than 125 miles of trails and is one of the largest parcels of undeveloped conservation land within the Boston metropolitan area. The park offers spectacular views and is a great place to see fall foliage. Visitors interested in the reservation's ecology will enjoy the numerous swamps, ponds, marshes and meadows, as well as several endangered species.
