Enjoy fall foliage near Crawford Notch with a 2- day backpack from Bartlett, NH featuring Mount Parker and Mount Resolution. These two 52WAV peaks will be accessed via the Mount Langdon, Mount Parker, and Mount Stanton trails, with overnight at the Mount Langdon Shelter tent site. We will travel along the southern Montalban Ridge enjoying spectacular views of Mount Washington, Mount Crawford, Stairs Mountain, the Rocky Branch Valley, Bartlett and the Saco River Valley. We will travel along scenic white ledges and red pine forests while savoring the views.
On day one we will start hiking in Bartlett on the Langdon Trail at a moderate pace. After reaching the intersection of the Mount Stanton Trail we will back track and leave our tents at the Mount Langdon Shelter, then head north to Mount Parker and the southern knob of Mount Resolution before returning to the Mount Langdon shelter site for the night (10.1 miles, 3,389 elevation gain, 2,287 elevation loss).
On day two we will pack up and head down the southernmost part of the Montalban Ridge enjoying views from Mount Langdon, Mount Pickering, and Mount Stanton as we travel down the ridge (4.8 miles, elevation gain 1,115 elevation gain, 2,241 elevation loss).
Total Distance: 14.9 miles, Elevation gain: 4,504 feet, Elevation loss 4,528.
Prior to starting the hike we will be shuttling cars to our end point at the Mount Stanton Trailhead.
Participants will be screened to determine if they have recent hiking/backpacking experience and proper gear.
Forecasted heavy rain cancels, but light rain does not (unless the wind and/or temperature are not conducive to a safe and enjoyable trip).
