Description: We’d love to have you join us for the third hike in our Tuesday‑morning winter series in the Blue Hills . There’s absolutely no need to have attended the earlier hikes — newcomers are warmly welcomed.
This week’s route is a touch easier than the previous “Moderate” outings. On the AMC scale, it sits at the upper end of Easy : rolling terrain, no major hills, and a comfortable 5–6 miles . We’ll be out for up to four hours , moving at a relaxed 2‑mph pace that’s perfect for conversation. Expect regular breaks, plus a 10–15‑minute lunch stop to recharge and enjoy the winter scenery.
And if you’d like to keep the fun going afterward, we’ll head over to Widowmaker Brewing , just five minutes from the trailhead, for a well‑earned drink and some good company.
We truly hope you’ll join us — it’s a wonderful way to start the day, meet great people, and enjoy the beauty of the Blue Hills in winter.
---------------- General Series information: We are hoping for some snow this season so we can enjoy the picturesque trails and get to use our micro-spikes and snowshoes, but we will hike even if we don't have snow. This series will run weekly from Dec. 23rd until March 17th. These fun hikes will be approximately 6-8 miles, including up to 1,200' elevation gain. We will average a pace of 1 1/2 + mph with short breaks when needed to enjoy a snack or light lunch. The route will include uneven terrain and rock scrambles. Appropriate hiking clothes layers for winter weather conditions, sturdy footwear, lunch/snacks, 2 liters of water, and a small backpack are required. Weather can change dramatically around this time of year, so please check before coming to the hike. This hike is open to all who qualify, and you do not have to be a member of AMC to participate. If you don't have micro-spikes or trekking poles, you can still come as we have some spare gear. Registration is required for this hike.
