Description: Calling all hobbits: join us for a relaxed amble through lesser-known trails of Wompatuck State Park
This roughly 4-mile hike walk will move at an easy, unhurried pace—perfect for chatting, taking photos, and enjoying winter in the woods. This outing is designed for everyone : kids, newcomers, seasoned members, and anyone who simply wants a gentle morning outside. We’ll pause to share stories and bits of Wompatuck lore, then continue to a leisurely lunch beside the reservoir.
Some of the trails are paved, so comfy walking shoes are ideal. Wompy is also known for its many off‑leash dogs, so expect a few canine encounters along the way. We begin at 10:00 AM and plan to return to the cars between 1:00 and 2:00 PM , depending on the group’s pace. And as always, these are rain‑or‑shine hikes, adding a little extra adventure to the day.
If you’re looking for a friendly, low‑key outing with space to wander please join and bring a friend. As a SEM 50 event, your friendly leaders will provide snacks, but please bring your own lunch and any extra treats you might like for along the way.

Join us as we mark 50 years of amazing memories and the enduring power of our shared passion! As part of SEM’s 50th Anniversary celebration, all participants will receive a special SEM 50th Anniversary pin in addition to being automatically entered into a special SEM 50th Anniversary raffle, with prizes to be awarded at the end of the anniversary year. Each SEM 50th Anniversary event you attend earns you an additional raffle entry, so join us often!
