Description: For fifty years, the Southeastern Mass Chapter of the Appalachian Mountain Club has forged a legacy of adventure, conservation and community across the vast forests, rocky peaks and sparkling coastlines of the New England region we call home. Join us as mark 50 years of amazing memories and the enduring power of our shared passion!
Please join us for week #10 of our Tuesday Blue Hills Spring Hiking Series. We are ending the series with a fun End to End hike of the Skyline Trail. Weather permitting, we will be rewarded with some great views along the way. This hike will be about 8 miles and 1,800’ of elevation gain as we traverse the route from Royall Street back to Shea Rink. The pace will be moderate at an average between 1.5 - 2 MPH. The route will be a mix of smooth trails, rugged uneven terrain, roots, rocks and even some rock scrambling. In order to do this hike, we will be car spotting. At the conclusion of the hike, we will have an optional celebration at Trillium where you can join us for a beverage and/or something to eat.
You won’t need a lot of gear, but we recommend sturdy footwear, a backpack, non-cotton clothing suitable for hiking, rain gear, at least 2 liters of water, lunch or snacks, bug spray, and sunblock. Trekking poles are optional but recommended. This hike is open to all who qualify, even if you haven’t participated on previous hikes in the series. You also do not have to be a member of AMC to participate, but online registration is required for each weekly hike.
A detailed information sheet will be sent to all registered participants several days before the hike.
Please note the earlier time of 8;30 AM for circle-up and 8:45 AM for the hike start!
