Description: If you’re looking for a weekend hike , I’d love to have you join me on Sunday for a relaxed grand tour of every trail in the Blue Hills east of the horse bridge. It’s a Trail Trace , which means we follow every trail in the network, yes, all of them, but at an easy, social pace.
The route is about seven miles. When I hike it quickly it takes around three hours, but that’s not the plan for this outing. I would like to hike at a slightly slower pace good for walking and talking and also enjoy an extended lunch . Expect the full experience to take about four hours, with everyone back at their cars around 2 PM. If you enjoy longer hikes without rushing, this one will feel just right. Also, if hills aren’t your favorite, you’re in luck. The terrain is so flat you could probably balance a cup of coffee for most of it, though I wouldn't recommend testing that on mile 7.
When we reach the Nike Missile Base , I’ll give a short, optional talk about the history of the site. Before I begin, I’ll give a trigger warning so anyone who prefers can wander just around the corner and enjoy a snack break instead. You’ll never be stuck listening to anything you’d rather skip.
Everyone who registers will be automatically confirmed. Final screening happens at the trailhead, which is a polite way of saying if you show up in flip‑flops and no water, I will sadly have to send you home to rethink your life choices.
If you register, I’ll email you the mileage afterward along with a few ideas for future activities you might enjoy. You don't need to be an AMC member to come on this hike, but you do need an account to register. You’re also welcome to simply show up at the trailhead and sign a paper waiver.
We'll meet at Donovan Elementary School at 9:45 AM for a 10:00 AM start. The address is 123 Reed St, Randolph, MA 02368.
