What we’re about
Welcome! We’re the 20s/30s+ Committee of the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) Western MA Chapter — a fun, friendly group for people in their 20s & 30s who love the outdoors and want to explore Western Mass and New England with others.
Whether you’re new to hiking, just moved to the area, or have years of outdoor experience, you’ll find a welcoming community here. We organize group hikes, paddles, ski trips, campouts, social gatherings, trail work days, and more — all with a focus on community, inclusivity, and shared adventure.
You don’t need to be an AMC member to join our Meetup group or come to events (though we love it when you become one!). Most of our activities are free or low-cost and are led by trained volunteers who are excited to share their passion for the outdoors.
Join us to explore new trails, meet like-minded folks, and build lasting connections — both on and off the trail.

Audience: 20’s & 30’s
Description: Join AMC Western MA 20s/30s for a weekly night of skiing and snowboarding at Berkshire East Mountain Resort in Charlemont! We’ll meet on Wednesday evenings throughout January and February for some midweek turns under the lights.
This informal, social meetup welcomes skiers and riders of all abilities — whether you’re making your first runs of the season, getting in some midweek laps, or just enjoying the classic New England ski hill atmosphere with good company.
While this is not an instructional trip, participants of all experience levels are encouraged to join. You should be comfortable getting around the mountain independently, and we’ll often form smaller groups based on ability and pace. Beginners are absolutely welcome — friendly advice and encouragement are always part of the mix! If you’d like more formal instruction, lessons are available directly through Berkshire East.
Participants are responsible for purchasing their own lift tickets or season passes. Rentals are available on-site. Please check the Berkshire East website for current prices, hours, and snow conditions.
Whether you come every week or just once in a while, we hope you’ll join us for a fun, relaxed evening on the slopes this winter!

Description: Please join the Mountaineering Committee for an evening of socializing and climbing! This is a event for climbers in their 20s and 30s who are looking to get into rock climbing or meet new climbing partners. We will meet at 6pm at Central Rock Gym in Hadley and climb for a few hours and head over to the Quarters for a post-climbing social. We are excited to see some new faces and welcome those who are interested in learning more about climbing! Please be aware that an active membership or day pass is required to climb at CRG Hadley and you must also sign their liability waiver. Rental gear is available. If you know how to belay but are not certified to belay at Central Rock Gym, you will need to pass a belay test upon entering the gym.

Description: Join AMC Western MA 20s/30s for a two-night stay at Cardigan Lodge , at the base of Mount Cardigan in the foothills of the White Mountains. This is an unstructured, social weekend focused on shared meals, downtime, and community; perfect for easing into the new year with good people and good food.
During the day, you might choose to hike to the summit of Mt. Cardigan, go backcountry skiing, read by the fireplace, play board games, or relax with a warm drink. In the evenings, we’ll gather for group meals, conversation, and whatever low-key fun the group is up for. Participants will help with meal prep, dishes, and light cleanup as part of building shared community for the weekend.
Lodging: We’ll be staying in Cardigan Lodge , a heated group facility with bunk rooms, shared bathrooms, and cozy indoor common spaces. Twin beds with mattresses are provided; bring your own bedding or sleeping bag.
Meals: Friday dinner, Saturday breakfast and dinner, and a light Sunday breakfast are included. You'll need to plan/bring your own lunch for Saturday. More information to come.
Cost AMC Member: $100 Non-Member: $130 ( join or renew today to save! )
