What we’re about
Welcome! We’re the 20s/30s+ Committee of the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) Western MA Chapter — a fun, friendly group for people in their 20s & 30s who love the outdoors and want to explore Western Mass and New England with others.
**Note: We use this site to promote our activities, while keeping RSVPs closed so that registration can happen on activities.outdoors.org (you can find direct registration links in each event description here on Meetup). We hope you're able to join us at an event soon!
Whether you’re new to hiking, just moved to the area, or have years of outdoor experience, you’ll find a welcoming community here. We organize group hikes, paddles, ski trips, campouts, social gatherings, trail work days, and more — all with a focus on community, inclusivity, and shared adventure.
You don’t need to be an AMC member to join our Meetup group or come to events (though we love it when you become one!). Most of our activities are free or low-cost and are led by trained volunteers who are excited to share their passion for the outdoors.
Join us to explore new trails, meet like-minded folks, and build lasting connections — both on and off the trail.

Audience: 20’s & 30’sDescription: Join other folks in their 20s/30s+ for an early evening walk/hike across the Fitzgerald Lake Conservation Area! We'll meet at the Cooke Ave parking area, carpool to the North Farms Rd. trailhead, and begin our hike along the boardwalk toward the lake. The Lake Trail will bring us to the dam, which we'll cross before continue along the trail and Boggy Meadow Road which will return us to the Cooke Ave parking area. The ~2 mi hike (including shuttling) will take ~1.5 hours, and is relatively flat. Expect it to be a little muddy at times, particularly along the Lake Trail and a section of Boggy Meadow Road.
After the hike, we’ll head to the Toasted Owl (Northampton) for dinner, totally optional, but a great way to keep the conversation going!
Dogs are allowed, and must be leashed at all times; please let the leader(s) know if you intend to bring your pup!

Audience: 20’s & 30’sDescription: Join AMC Western MA 20s/30s for a two-night stay at Noble View Outdoor Center in Russell, MA.
This is an unstructured weekend focused on shared meals, downtime, and connection. During the day, you can explore Noble View’s hiking trails, read or knit by the wood stove, or join a board or yard game; before winding down around a campfire in the evening. We'll cultivate a sense of camaraderie by helping with meal prep, dishes, and light cabin cleanup over the course of the weekend.
Lodging & Meals We’ll be staying in two group-use cabins: the Double Cottage (sleeps up to 18) and the North Cottage (sleeps up to 10). Beds are twin size with mattresses, spread across 2-, 3-, and 4-bunk rooms. Participants should bring their own bedding or sleeping bags. The cabins are heated and include full kitchens (except for running water, available nearby). Bathrooms, showers, and dishwashing sinks are located in a separate, modern bathhouse.
The following meals (as well as snacks available throughout the weekend) are included with the registration cost: Friday dinner (pizza & salad) Saturday breakfast (cold breakfast & hot brunch) Sunday breakfast (cold breakfast) Thanksgiving-Style Potluck On Saturday evening, we’ll host a Thanksgiving potluck dinner. Everyone is asked to bring a favorite side dish or dessert to share. Whether it’s stuffing, sweet potatoes, or pie, this is a chance to contribute something meaningful (or delicious) to the table.
We’ll coordinate in advance so we don’t end up with a dozen bowls of mashed potatoes. We’ll be sure to have plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. Let us know if you have any other dietary restrictions or preferences and we can encourage folks to accommodate them to the best of the group’s ability.
Cost Member: $110 Non-Member: $140
This cost covers lodging and the three included meals+snacks. The Saturday potluck is coordinated separately by participants.
Your spot is not confirmed until you have been contacted by the organizer, submitted payment, and your status has been updated in Outdoors Connector. Please wait for the organizer to reach out before sending any payment.
Priority will be given to AMC Western Massachusetts Chapter members as part of an effort to build and strengthen the local 20s/30s community.
