Description: Join other folks in their 20s and 30s on a winter hike to Welton Falls from AMC Cardigan Lodge on Sunday January 11! This relatively flat hike will be a mellow and scenic finish to the weekend if you are join us for the 20s/30s+ Winter Weekend at Cardigan Lodge.
We will meet at AMC Cardigan Lodge in the pack-out room on the lower level. Starting at the Lodge, we will take the Lower Manning Trail at a conversational pace down to Welton Falls. After stopping to eat snacks, rehydrate, and view Welton Falls, we will turn around and return the way we came. We will gain a gradual 350 ft in elevation over 1.4 miles on the return to close out our weekend on a scenic and mellow note. Trail conditions will determine whether what gear we will need. Sturdy boots should be worn; traction devices like micro spikes and/or snowshoes may be required.
The hike will be 2.8 miles in total with a gradual downhill along the brook to the scenic falls and a gain of 350 ft to return to the trailhead.
Expect winter conditions including ice, snow, and below-freezing temperatures. Traction may be required and microspikes and snowshoes may be available to borrow.
