What we’re about
The Boston Chapter Bicycle Committee offers a wide variety of rides to cyclists of all abilities in the greater Boston area and beyond. We have day rides, evening rides, weekend in the mountains or on the Vineyard rides, short rides, long rides, easy rides, advanced rides-something for almost every one.
We also get together socially after the rides or at the annual rally and offer workshops where all can learn to fix a flat, adjust the brakes and ride safely and responsibly.
Our purpose is to bring cyclists together in a friendly social atmosphere in which people can acquire new skills and enhance old ones. Our leaders are all volunteers who have mapped out routes on some of the area's most beautiful byways.
Most of our rides provide a lead and a sweep, as well as a cue sheet and/or map. We do our best to keep you on track as well as to keep you safe! Helmets are required on all our rides. We also group rides into easy, intermediate or advanced, so that you can ride with others at a similar pace.

Come enjoy a mellow 15.5 -mile mostly bike path tour around Horn Pond via Winchester. There are some surface streets we must use to connect the paths. There are some short sections of well packed gravel, any type bike is ok. Though we are mostly on bike paths, there are many crossings and expect heavy bike, and pedestrian traffic and quick turns. Following the rules of the road is a must for safety. Cyclists should be able to maintain a steady 11-13 mph riding speed. Due to the urban conditions our overall speed will probably be 8-10 mph including waiting for lights. To keep the group well guided and sort of together through the many turns and crossings, we will ask riders to participate in the "human arrow" method (more detail at the pre-ride brief). Helmets required, bright, highly visible clothing and blinky lights are highly recommended. Please download the ride from the RWGPS link to your smartphone, gps device, or print a cue sheet Feel free to contact the leader for any questions. Meet at 5:45 at (see AMC Listing for Location!) We will aim to be biking off at 6:00pm after a meet and greet and ride briefing. For those interested after the ride, we will be having something to eat and refreshments at the nearby Cambridge Craft Food and Beer Hall after the ride.
