Description: Please join us for a fun early season 13.5 mile ride. This is a relatively flat loop ride (+222 fit elevation gain) along bike paths and paved roads starting in City Square, Charlestown and traveling to Fresh Pond, Cambridge We will ride at a relaxed pace recognizing the many cross streets, pedestrians, other bikers and autos we will share the route with. Please arrive at 4:15 pm to meet the other riders, hear the safety talk, adjust your bike etc.
We will depart promptly at 4:30 to ensure we arrive back in Charlestown before dark. On street parking at City Square Charlestown is difficult. The best choices are Warren Street, Main Street, and Harvard Street. Paid parking is available at Constitution Wharf, Charlestown.
The Essentials: Helmets are mandatory . The Gear: Bring a bike in good working order. Flat tires are party poopers—please bring a spare inner tube just in case! The Comfort: It can get chilly in April. Wear warm layers and don’t forget your gloves . The Extras : Front and rear lights are highly recommended for visibility, and bring a bike lock if you’re joining us for the post-ride bite and beverage in Charlestown. Remember to bring plenty of water. Heavy rain will cancel the ride. We will contact all registered riders the day before if we need to cancel.
